Procol Harum, "A Whiter Shade of Pale"

A Whiter Shade of Pale is without any doubt one of the most emblematic pieces of the 70s. It is inspired in the "Air on the G String" by Bach and just like the piece it is inspired into, it delivers an equal amount of deep and amazingly beautiful melodic sequences. The jazzy spirit I used in the transcription is marked by an ever changing syncopation in the rhythm. Keeping the tuning of the guitar to the standard E was perhaps the biggest challenge in making the transcription because most of the work I found online demanded some sort of detuning and I always try to avoid changing the standard tuning of the guitar in order to keep the resonant characteristics of the instrument intact.
