Schubert Franz, "Ave Maria"
Transcription & Fingering: Renato Bellucci
The Ave Maria is without a doubt one of the most beautiful songs ever written. The glorious arpeggios create a perfect instability to the tonality that enhances the melody to unsuspected heights. Add tho this the name of our Blessed Mother being pronounced at the very start and you can see why this is such a monumental masterpiece. Schubert never meant the piece to be dedicated to Our Lady and the original title of the work is actually, the piece is "Ellen's Third Song" composed in 1825. Catholics made it their favorite song because of the opening words and of course due to the majestic beauty of the piece, but theAve Maria was not meant to be a sacred piece. Love and Devotion on the part of believers the world over have turned her into "Our Lady's Song" Per excellence...The main challenge is to keep the main melody in center-stage and you achieve this through fijación . Reas all about fijación in the technique pages.
