Hoagy Carmichael, "Georgia on my Mind"
Transcription and Fingering: Renato Bellucci
I first heard Georgia on My Mind in the 1980s performed by guitarist Goran Sollscher and I was hooked. The piece was written in 1930 by Hoagy Carmichael (music). The lyrics were not written about the state of Georgia, but rather for Carmichael's sister, Georgia Carmichael. The song was recorded on September 15, 1930, in New York by Hoagy Carmichael and His Orchestra and featured Eddie Lang on guitar. In 2014, the recording was inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame. This is my homage to a wonderful work.
