Gabon Ebony B&S, The Cat
Majestic. Model: CAT01
Amazing Gabon Ebony Back and Sides, Italian Spruce Top, Florentine Cutaway, Built for Swiss Guitarist Stéphane Nicolas Werder: The Cat Guitar was inspired and commissioned by Swiss/French Guitarist Stéphane Werder. Steph is a great animal lover and Cats top his list of all time favorite pets. Gabon Ebony was a great choice for the Back and Sides and mixing it with a splendid Spruce top was the perfect combination to deliver the deep, warm sound so typical of the classical guitar plus the tremendous clarity of the Italian Alpine species. Stéph wanted custom measures for the nut which was made at 48mm and a flying fingerboard to allow for a more generous vibration of the top. The Florentine cutaway not only makes access to the higher position a lot easier but it also adds elegance and an air of royalty to the instrument. The inlay cat was handmade on a Blackwood fingerboard and 640mm was the chosen scale. Stéph plays all types of guitars and he insisted that the transition from the acoustic and electric action to the classical not be as drastic. Linear Marquetry an optional onboard EQ/Digital Tuner and a Carbon fiber truss rod completed the list of custom specs. The all-wood style doubletop was his choice of bracing and Stéph knows that I am also a big fan of the doubletop. It allows the guitar to sound fuller and takes care of all the unwanted wolf notes and harmonic conflicts that stringed instruments so often present. In the video I play Romance and Bach Air on the G String. The sound is full and vibrant. She's very easy to play thanks to Stéph custom action measures. The separation of voices is simply put perfect. Steph has the guitar for display in Basel, Switzerland and he is the official representative of Bellucci Guitars for Switzerland and Europe. S.D.G.
Elevated Fingerboard. The fingerboard is
only attached to the top so as to guarantee structural stability and
resilience to the neck. Approximately halfway between the contact point
with the body and the soundhole, the fingerboard takes off and has no
contact with the top of the guitar thus allowing the top to vibrate
freely and produce more sound. The construction technique of the
Bellucci elevated fingerboard took a couple of years to perfect and is
now one of the best Custom features of Bellucci guitars.
The Double top is an extremely powerful system to augment sustain and eliminate wolf notes. It consists of a second top (normally Cedar, Spruce or Sinker Redwood) that runs parallel to the first one halfway between the top and the back. It is the internal body construction system that better seems to show what one would expect a double top to look like. The 2 tops are connected through the sides and the transversal struts and the resulting sound is full and very powerful.
Bellucci guitars are decorated using marvelous wood marquetry to enhance all her lines and put an accent on specific parts of the construction. The marquetry requires anywhere between 35 & 90 hours of highly skilled labor to be inlayed throughout the guitar. It is made entirely by hand using knives that each luthier typically manufactures himself. It takes the guitar to unsuspected levels of beauty. The marquetry also constitutes an often critical point of release of tension which is caused by the constant expanding and contracting of the woods used in guitar construction. These are due to such factors such as humidity and ambience temperature.
The Mother of Pearl and Abalone inlay work adds amazing beauty to an
already stunning guitar. It takes innumerable hours and very specialized
hands and tools to create each inlay work. The average number of hours
invested is approximately 150 hours.
The
Florentine cutaway is both very beautiful and extremely useful. It
requires the highest level of luthery to be made and when it comes to
playability, it allows the player to access the F# on fret 14 with
amazing ease thus covering the 14 most used frets in the classical
guitar.
Carbon Fiber is stronger than an equivalent volume of steel. The Carbon fiber truss rod prevents neck twisting and/or bending due to the excessive tension that many modern brands of strings bring about. It adds practically no weight to the construction and will keep your neck straight for ages.
The Bellucci Triple Neck Reinforcement (Maple-Rosewood-Maple) adds beauty and resilience to the neck allowing us to build it slim and when coupled to the Carbon Fiber Truss rod or the Adjustable Truss Rod, it ensures a beautiful and straight neck for several generations no matter what string tension or brand you use.
Adding Pearl and Abalone to the Wood rosette adds a touch of beauty to one of the most spectacular parts of the guitar. The Pearl in the rosette is accompanied by a matching touch of Pearl & Abalone on the bridge
Bellucci Guitars wear some of the best tuners available on the market. Schaller, Gotoh & Waverly. All models are Gold plated and are designed to last for a lifetime.
The Ultralight Travel Case Ideal for Shipping (Included) is a very sturdy and extremely light case that protects the guitar very well while allowing the player to carry the instrument without adding more weight than strictly necessary. It is covered in black plush inside and has 2 pockets on the outside and an accessories compartment on the inside. 2 Straps to carry it on the back as a backpack or over the shoulder.
This is a fabulous touch to have mounted on the back of the headstock of your custom Bellucci guitar whether it is is for yourself or if it is a present for a loved one. The plaque is made in 18Kt Gold and is engraved by hand.
