John Williams, "Schindler's List" (TAB)
Version and Fingering: Renato Bellucci
Great Movie directors have always created great alliances with great
composers. Such is the case with Spielberg and Williams, Leone and
Morricone. The movie is not only an artistic statement from a visual
arts point of view but it is also a statement from a musical point of
view. The black and white images simply strike you deep as the music
seems to add the missing color, it completes every scene of this
memorial movie to one of history's darkest moments. The transcription is
based on Itzhac Perlman's violin interpretation and I used all my
guitar knowledge to make the piece shine on the classical guitar.
Stuttgart, Germany, 15 October 1999 - The original copy of a list of over 1,200 Polish Jews known as Schindler's List is shown in Stuttgart, October 15. During the Second World War, Oskar Schindler was responsible for saving the lives of Polish Jews. The story became famous through the Booker Prize winning novel "Schindler's Ark," that was later made into an Academy Award winning film by well known Hollywood director Steven Spielberg titled "Schindler's List." If you apply dampers (apagadores -ap.- to turn off the sound) to the lower notes in the F chord in measure 2, while you apply a slow vibrato to the A, you will attain a wonderful effect.
The way you execute these dampers is by gently touching strings 6 and 4 with the tip of fingers p and i respectively immediately after playing the notes.
The left hand achieves stretches more easily with the active participation of the elbow and wrist articulation.
