Cat Stevens, "The First Cut is the Deepest"
Transcription and Fingering: Renato Bellucci
The first song I ever sang was a Cat Stevens song: Father and Son. Cat Stevens is the singer that grew the courage in me to break from what had only and exclusively been a "Classical" education in the field of music for me. I started playing guitar with a teach in Italy at the age of 8 and, 5 years later, as a sophomore student at the American School of Asunción, I fell in love with the amazing song Father and Son and I said to myself "I have got to sing this".
The fist Cut is the deepest is a marvelous song which has been covered many times over, being Rod Steward's cover the most famous of all.
This is my transcription of a great classic from the 70s and I love to teach this piece to my students who benefit from the many technical challenges it poses without ever becoming a "tough bone to chew"...
