Don MacLean made it into music history thanks to this amazing song. Who could possibly not be enamored by Van Gogh's figure. He his the representative par excellence of the "artist": Nobody understands him, he suffers, he is insane, his art is worthless until he dies.
A great artist can be recognized by his work. It takes me a nanosecond to differentiate Van Gogh's paintings among many others. The strokes of his brushes are simply UNIQUE and so is his choice of colors..
