Elton John Your Song

Elton John, "Your Song"

Transcription and Fingering: Renato Bellucci

I learned how to sing and accompany myself on the guitar when I was in high school back in 1979. Your Song was perhaps one of the best songs I had ever heard and talked of a poor musician who wished he could one day offer the world to his beloved. I identified fully with the song and soon sang it at every class meeting. It took all these decades for me to finally come up with a guitar transcription for classical guitar. The song was originally composed by Elton John and Bernie Taupin in 1970 and was introduced to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998. Below are the Lyrics to the song:

Lyrics:

"It's a little bit funny this feeling inside / I'm not one of those who can easily hide / I don't have much money but boy if I did / I'd buy a big house where we both could live.” / "So excuse me forgetting but these things I do / You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue / Anyway the thing is what I really mean / Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen / And you can tell everybody this is your song / It may be quite simple but now that it's done / I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind / That I wrote down in words / How wonderful life is / While you're in the world..."
